Personal Lines Department

Account Manager III

“My internship at Atlas Insurance Agency through the Tradewind Group gave me invaluable insight into the business landscape here in Honolulu. My time at UH and involvement in various Shidler clubs provided me with the confidence and interpersonal skills to connect with professionals across Atlas.

I was fortunate to intern with the Client Consulting Services group, where I had the opportunity to work closely with my supervisor and a team of driven, charismatic individuals who generously shared their daily responsibilities and experiences with me.

Transitioning into a full-time role in the Personal Lines Department has been a rewarding journey. I am grateful that upper management saw potential in me and has continued to invest in my professional and personal growth with their time, support, and resources. While insurance may not be the flashiest field, the people I work with and the knowledge I have gained and continue to build on make every day meaningful and engaging.”

“My internship at Atlas provided meaningful, hands-on experience and made me feel like a valued part of the team from day one. I had the chance to connect with people across various teams and levels, which deepened my understanding of the company culture and helped shape my career goals.

Transitioning into a full-time role felt like a natural next step. I already felt connected to the work, the people, and the environment, which gave me a strong foundation to focus on learning and growing in my position.”

“My internship experience has been truly transformative and has helped me grow into the person I aspire to become. During my time here, I have developed a range of valuable skills that will serve me well as I continue to pursue opportunities in this field. I have also built meaningful relationships that will support me throughout college and into my future career.
By learning the ins and outs of Atlas and gaining exposure to the insurance industry, I have gained knowledge that will help me succeed professionally. Tasks such as preparing premium loss summaries and conducting annual premium evaluations have deepened my understanding of what insurance offers and how it supports businesses and communities.
This internship has provided me with meaningful insight into both the insurance and business worlds. I hope to return one day with the experience and knowledge I have gained, ready to contribute even more with the goal of growing within a company for the long term.”

Tradewind Group Summer 2025 Internship Program

“Interning at Atlas has deepened my understanding of the work culture within Insurance Agencies. Having studied the principles of Risk Management & Insurance at CSUS, being able to understand common terminology used in the insurance industry has proven to be very useful, reducing any ambiguity, making understanding the importance of each task much easier.

Seeing the work done firsthand has brought some much needed clarity to what I should expect when working in Insurance. Pulling the loss run histories and payrolls to find the Experience Modifier for said company was actually really fun to finally do, as opposed to just discussing it in a classroom setting.

All together, Interning at Atlas has really shown me the main difference between Insurance Agencies and Insurance Carriers. I would definitely recommend interning here as a steppingstone if you’re interested in Insurance.”

Associate Vice President & Account Executive

“Interning at Atlas was a pivotal step in my career journey. With previous internships in financial services, startups and an insurance carrier, I came in with a broad understanding of the financial and insurance sectors.

The internship at Atlas provided me with an in depth understanding on the operations of an insurance agency and the career opportunities available for me.

They provided me with opportunities to contribute to the team and listened to my feedback. This experience helped the transition to becoming a full time employee feel natural and allowed me to jump start my career in insurance.”

Account Manager III

“My internship at Atlas was an invaluable experience that taught me how to navigate and succeed in a corporate environment. The hands-on nature of the program allowed me to learn directly from professionals across various departments, giving me a well-rounded understanding of the company and its operations. It was especially rewarding to see where I could potentially fit within the organization and how my skills could contribute.

The managers were incredibly supportive, clearly outlining potential growth paths and how I could thrive at Atlas post-graduation. I felt like a valued member of the team, and the work I contributed never went unnoticed. That sense of inclusion and purpose made a lasting impact.

As I transitioned into my full-time role after graduation, the foundation and relationships I had built during my internship made the shift smooth and natural. Being surrounded by a team that believed in my potential and was genuinely invested in my success has been instrumental in helping me grow into my position as an Account Manager.”

Matthew Kam 3753E

Marketing Coordinator

“When I first started my internship at Atlas Insurance Agency, I was the only intern at the time, which was both exciting and a little intimidating. However, I quickly realized how supportive and flexible the company was. Atlas worked around my school schedule while still making sure I had plenty of opportunities to come into the office and experience what it was like working in a corporate environment.

Even as an intern, I never felt like I was treated differently from full-time employees. I was included in office activities, company events, and the overall workplace culture, which made me feel like a valued member of the team from day one.

During my internship, I was given the freedom to focus on projects that aligned with my career goals as a Marketing Coordinator. One of the biggest highlights was taking full control of Atlas’s social media profiles, managing and scheduling content on a consistent timeline for the first time. Through this experience, I learned valuable skills in organization, time management, and what it truly means to work in a professional office setting.

I enjoyed my time at Atlas so much that when they offered me a full-time position on the Marketing team, I was beyond excited to accept. The internship not only gave me hands-on experience but also confirmed that this was exactly the kind of company and team I wanted to grow with.”
