Community Service

We recognize the importance of building a better community through giving, and it's good for our spirit.

The Atlas team has the Spirit of Aloha, thus the reason we call our community service efforts 'Atlas Aloha!'  Our group takes care of each other, we take care of our clients, and we work hard a building a better community. We bring the Spirit of Aloha into the workplace not as a distraction, but as value-added superior customer service. We care, so we use our Spirit of Aloha to give back to the community because it’s simply the right thing to do.  Below are upcoming and recent past community service events that our Atlas team will be or has participated in.

Lemonade Alley

On April 12, Atlas participated in the Lemonade Alley event.  Lemonade Alley’s mission is to make business fun through empowering kids with essential life skills, a kid-biz contest that took place at Pearlridge Center near the TJ Maxx parking lot. At the contest, ages K-12 kids invent a recipe and build a stand in a mall of lemonade stands in a head-to-head contest to see who can raise the most for a charity of choice, and our choice was Easter Seals Hawaii, who services children and adults with special needs.

Our Team’s name was Bubblicious and we served ono Blueberry lemonade with tapioca pearls along with baked goods made by other Atlas team members and we sold everything for a $1 each. Team Bubblicious’ President, Rylen Nasu, (Kim Nasu’s son) Treasurer, Lily Nordgran, (Melanie Nordgran’s daughter) and Sales-Pitch Master, Kaeden Miyoi (Vince Miyoi’s son), and Taylor Davis (Carol Davis’ daughter) and parents, participated and worked very hard on pulling this event together! Also, a special thank you to Sandy Ferreira, Kathy Kano and Sharilyn Tanaka who helped with the prep as well as during the day of the event!  Including the pre-sale at the office, we raised a little over $500! The kids were interviewed by ‘Olelo too! It was a long, yet fun day filled with team comrade!

Kapiolani Medical Center Radiothon for Kids

Team Atlas volunteers, Bobbie Erickson, Krystyn Weeks, Sharilyn Tanaka, Duane Hopp, Travis Ota, Julie Dang, Steve Pang, Martin Beardeaux, and Kristen Ribilla attended and helped at the Kapiolani Medical Center’s  Radiothon for Kids by answering phone calls while KSSK broadcasted live and promoted the radiothon for donors to call in. Everyone had a great time! By volunteering at this event and making a donation, it helped to support critically ill keiki and the care Kapiolani Medical Center provides to children throughout our state and the entire Pacific Region. Thank you to all who called in—what a wonderful cause!

In April, Atlas Insurance Agency participated in the Lemonade Alley. Their mission is to make business fun (selling lemonade) through empowering kids, a contest to raise money for our charity of choice, Easter Seals Hawaii (ESH), who services children and adults with special needs. Team Bubblicious raised over $500 and Sandy Ferreira, Melanie & Lily Nordgran delivered the check to ESH. Their President & CEO, Chris Blanchard, Chairman of the Board, Bill Wilson, and some of the ESH participants of the Youth Services program showed their gratitude!
